➲ Blades problems

Use a ruler to measure the position of all fan blades and rectify different dimensions by correcting the screws. The blade holders can be bent into a uniform position with gentle pressure.

Due to the different density of natural material some wooden blades display slight imbalance and wobble of the blades. This problem is easily solved by using the adhesive blade weights or changing the position of the blades.

If the blades are damaged or deformed due to old age, make use of our range of suitable spare blades in the appropriate colours. This helps extend the service life of the fan motor.

➲ Blades: How many?

Each blade of the ceiling fan transports a certain quantity of air. Not only the number of blades plays a decisive role in the airflow. The blade pitch and overall surface of the blades is just as important. For example, blades in a slightly angled position circulate more air than a flat blade. The weight of the blades impacts the rotation speed of the motor. For that reason, a blade with three blades can be more efficient than a device that is equipped with more blades for a decorative purpose. You can be sure that all fans from our brands have been optimised regarding blades and blade pitch. In case of the Turno ceiling fan it is even possible to use two, three or four blades depending on personal taste.

➲ Buzzing

Let your ceiling fan run for 24 hours nonstop after installation. Any disturbing noise should have disappeared afterwards. If a buzzing noise persists, the vibration of the motor directly hits a resonating body, meaning the ceiling.

The loud vibrating of the ceiling fan can be removed by inserting a soft padding between the ceiling bracket and the ceiling. We recommend foam rubber from the crafts store or a small piece of leftover carpet.

Motors of ceiling fans are not suitable for continuously variable speed controllers! This could be another reason for the disturbing noise.

➲ Ceiling height

The recommended ceiling height for fans is 2.30 metres. The distance to the ceiling provides ideal air circulation and ensures that nobody will be hit by the fan blades. We also offer super slim models like the Kisa ceiling fan for rooms with low ceiling. The overall depth of this model is just 32cm from the ceiling to the bottom of the glass.

➲ Cleaning

Clean the ceiling fan with a non-fuzzing dry duster or a soft brush. Wooden blades and the motor housing must not be cleaned with water or a damp cloth.

➲ Cooling

Cooling an entire room demands intensive energy input and is very expensive. Fans do not change the air temperature itself, instead they create a cooling effect on the skin. Due to the airflow of the fan the hot and humid layer of air around the sweaty skin is simply blown away. The body reacts by continuing to emit warmth. With as little as 3 Watts power consumption fans are able to provide a pleasant breeze that would have taken a conventional air conditioning system a lot more energy.

➲ DC Fan

Direct current ceiling fans are particularly energy-efficient and consume as little as 3 Watts. Furthermore, their brushless motor makes them the most quiet ceiling fans available on the market.

➲ Decibel

Our branded ceiling fans are equipped with perfectly aligned blades to prevent any operational noise. Energy-saving DC ceiling fans are particularly quiet. They guarantee a whisper-quiet and efficient performance.

➲ Dimming

Dimmable LED ceiling fans are an integral part of the Pepeo range. For example, the fans Bayu and Raja can be dimmed in three different colour temperatures.
By using the Pepeo radio remote control you can also regulate the light of other ceiling fans. Please note that some low energy bulbs and LEDs are not dimmable, so make sure to choose a suitable lamp.

➲ Down rod

In some cases the down rods of our ceiling fans can be shortened or replaced by a longer rod (see item description). Fans with a down rod and ball joint can be mounted to sloping ceilings as long as they can carry a minimum load of 15kg.

➲ Guarantee

We offer up to 25 years limited manufacturer’s guarantee on the motor of some of our branded ceiling fans.

➲ LED bulbs

It goes without saying that ceiling fans suitable for energy-efficient lamps of the classes A and A+ can also be used with LED bulbs if they have the appropriate socket. Modern LED bulbs of the Instalux brand are motion-controlled, meaning they are dimmable with a movement of the hand and provide several colour temperatures (warm to cool). In some cases the light diodes are already fitted inside the ceiling fans and dimmable with a remote control. All products mentioned are

➲ Light problems

Check the bulb for effectiveness, data about wattage and the socket base. A voltage tester will help determine if power reaches the ceiling fan light kit. If the power supply is interrupted, correct all cable connections or get in touch with a licensed professional.

➲ Maintenance

Thanks to lubricated ball bearings Pepeo ceiling fans do not require additional oiling. We recommend checking all connections of the blades and screws twice a year and tighten if necessary.

➲ Motor problems

Fan motors without an appropriate safety rating must not be used in rooms with high humidity or areas exposed to explosive hazards. Continuously variable electric speed controllers must not be used to control the ceiling fan.

After the installation has been finished, the motor must be operation for 24 hours non-stop in order to run in properly. If the ceiling fan is still unusually loud afterwards, it could mean the screws have been tightened too much or too little. Resonating vibration also causes unpleasant noise. After checking these two factors it is also possible to take the motor and let it run on low speed without the blades. Carefully hold the down rod and check the motor noise without blades and the pressure of the ceiling (see image). If the maloperation or disturbing noise persists, components of the motor could be damaged. Generally, this issue is covered by the warranty and guarantee. Do not attempt any repair work on the motor by yourself, contact customer service instead.

➲ On/Off

If you have any problems turning on the fan, please check the following issues:
1) Plugs and cable connections are correct, connection to power supply is working
2) Control and wall controller / pull cord in position “on“
3) Remote control: batteries ok, frequency and pins are correct on the transmitter and receiver
4) Manual slide switch is not adjusted correctly to either side (must not be positioned in the centre)
5) Transport safety devices have been removed from the blades
6) Blades are mounted and secured correctly. Can the blades be moved manually?
7) Ambient temperature and air temperature are suitable for indoor ceiling fans

➲ Proximity

The distance from the outer fan blade to the wall, wardrobe, etc. should be at least 20cm. Indoor plants, curtains and the likes must not be close to the blades.

➲ Quiet operation

Direct current (DC) ceiling fans operate quietly and smoothly on all speed levels. On low speed the motors are virtually inaudible. That is why DC fans are a particularly popular choice for bedrooms and living rooms.

➲ Remote control problems

The Pepeo remote control systems include a handheld transmitter, a receiver unit and a wall bracket with all cables and components that are necessary for installation.
During installation you should remember to insert a new, full battery into the transmitter and to connect the wires correctly with the power supply and the fan as described in the instruction manual. The frequency and pins on transmitter and receiver must be the same and should not interfere with other electric devices in the room.

The fan cannot be operated with the remote control despite correct installation and wiring? Check for efficiency with the pull cord or wall controller.

Another method is to connect the ceiling directly to the power. For this the fuse must be turned off so there is no power available inside the room for safety reasons. Remove the receiver unit and link the ceiling fan to the power supply. If the fan works once the power is turned on again, this indicates that there could be damage inside the remote receiver. Please let us know about this problem. After checking we will send you a replacement unit.

➲ Reversible blades

Reversible blades (two-tone finish) are covered with a different finish on each side. For example, the frontside of the Saturn ceiling fan has a matte silver colour, whereas the reverse is finished with a light wooden pine sheet. This means users can choose from two different looks. Make use of the reversible blades if you feel like a change or want to adapt the design to new interior furniture. After moving house the reversible blades of the ceiling fan also come in handy.

➲ Spare parts

If you need any spare parts for your ceiling fan, do not hesitate to contact Pepeo GmbH via email.

➲ Speed

The appropriate rotation speed of your ceiling fan is selected based on your personal perception – it should not feel unpleasant or draughty. We recommend the lowest fan speed for the reverse (winter) setting to make sure there will be no cooling effect at all.
If the ceiling fan operates unusually slow after installation, check if the transport safety devices are still attached and remove them.
If the rotation speed becomes slower over the course of the years, the capacitator might be damaged. In accordance with the implied warranty we will provide this spare part.

On high speed a ceiling fan with overheating protection will automatically become slower as soon as a critical temperature is met.

➲ Warranty

The implied warranty of our ceiling fans is 2 years.

➲ Weight

Solid ceilings, wooden beams or suspended ceilings with mounting brackets can carry a ceiling fan as long as they are suitable for a load of at least 15kg. The rotating ceiling fan must be calculated with a much higher load than the single components per se.

➲ Wobbling

After the ceiling fans have been installed, they need 24 hours of continuous operation to run in, meaning all components are in balance. Leave the device on non-stop for this period. Any noise and wobbling should have ceased by the end of the 24 hours.

If the ceiling fan still moving unsteady, inclining to one side or wobbling, check the screws of the blades and blade holders.

Another reason could be the layout of the room itself. Roof beams or tall wardrobes next to the fan can also cause unsteady rotation. Move the furniture or mount the ceiling fan in a central position in the room where it has an even air intake on all sides.
